چکیده

Purpose: Although percutaneous stent placement for malignant inferior vena cava syndrome is a highly feasible and effective treatment option, there no clear evidence the necessity of prophylactic anticoagulation therapy after placement. This study retrospectively evaluated following in patients with syndrome.

Anticoagulation or inferior vena cava filter placement for patients with primary intracerebral hemorrhage developing venous thromboembolism?

BACKGROUND Most patients with primary intracerebral hemorrhage developing clinically apparent proximal deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and/or pulmonary embolism (PE) require treatment with either anticoagulants or inferior vena cava filter insertion. Although the latter probably reduces the immediate risk of incident or recurrent PE and surmounts the undefined risk of recurrent intracranial bleeding...

Prophylactic placement of an inferior vena cava filter in high-risk patients undergoing spinal reconstruction.

OBJECT The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of prophylactic inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement in high-risk patients who undergo major spine reconstruction. METHODS In the pilot study, 22 patients undergoing major spine reconstruction received prophylactic IVC filters. These patients were prospectively followed to evaluate complications related to the filte...

Prophylactic Inferior Vena Cava Filter Placement Does Not Result in a Survival Benefit for Trauma Patients.

OBJECTIVE Trauma patients are at high risk for life-threatening venous thromboembolic (VTE) events. We examined the relationship between prophylactic inferior vena cava (IVC) filter use, mortality, and VTE. SUMMARY BACKGROUND DATA The prevalence of prophylactic placement of IVC filters has increased among trauma patients. However, there exists little data on the overall efficacy of prophylact...

INFERIOR VENA CAVA THROMBOSIS IN A PATIENT WITH ESSENTIAL THROMBOCYTHEMIA

Essential thrombocythemia is a chronic myeloproliferative disorder characterized by a sustained proliferation of megakaryocytes, which leads to increased numbers of circulating platelets. Hemorrhagic and/or thrombotic episodes are frequent, and thrombosis of both veins and arteries may develop.
